Practicum Week 5 + One Day

I’ve fallen behind a couple days here so I’m going to include today’s news.  I had my first supervisor’s visit today. It seemed to go very well and he provided me with tons of constructive feedback, however he hasn’t formally evaluated me yet.  Instead, he had me make three goals to aim towards for his next visits

The students were a bit off-the-wall the last couple days and classroom management has been hard. Right from the start, I’ve been struggling with consistency and now I feel I’m at the point where it’s going to be hard to regain the higher ground.  I’m going to try and switch things up a little bit like changing the seating plan, but with only four days left, I’m going to take it for what it is, a learning experience. One thing I realize more than ever is how important it is to set clear expectations and consequences at the beginning and stick to them. If you don’t have control of the class and can’t keep your students on task, not much learning is going to take place.
